Grimes—a veteran educator, working mother, and longtime community leader—has launched a grassroots campaign to serve as the District 5 councilwoman in the City of Stonecrest, Georgia. A 30-year resident of DeKalb County, Grimes both works in the local school system and worships in her community as a faithful member and volunteer at New Life Church. In addition to this, she serves as Co-President of her homeowners’ association and represents DeKalb as a member of Snapping Shoals EMC Nominating Committee. Using her experience and perspective as a long-term and invested resident, Grimes’ campaign is focused on making Stonecrest the very best that it can be. Through spearheading efforts that will increase safety for residents, promote clean environments throughout the district, and attract high-quality businesses and industries that provide opportunities for everyone, Tammy Grimes promises to work on the behalf of all Stonecrest residents to ensure that their needs, and the needs of the city, are exceptionally met. Professional Career : Tammy L. Grimes is a veteran educator, working mother and longtime community leader. She works for the DeKalb County School System and is presently an Instructional Support Specialist. Tammy started her career as a teacher at Salem Middle School where she was named Teacher of Year. Tammy's time in the classroom was very impactful as she helped mentor and shape the lives of many of her students over the years. Due to her diligent and steadfast leadership in the classroom, Tammy is beloved by her former students, parents and colleagues. Grimes stated " I live in the humble truth that I'm on this Earth to serve and I've devoted myself to helping educate thousands of children in DeKalb County. I know education is vital; when you know better, you do better.” Personal : Grimes and her husband Reginald have been married for 30 years. They were partners in a successful venture that led to the development of The Estates at Trinity Village, a family-oriented community in Lithonia where they raised their three children, Reginald II, and daughters Taylor and Tylar - all of whom attended DeKalb County schools.
