ln 2016, over 48% of Gwinnettians had enough trust in (Ret) Lieutenant Colonel Jasper Watkins III to get-out-to-vote and this is why he is compelled to launch his campaign again to become the next District 3 Commissioner on the Gwinnett County Commission.  He is committed to taking action that will significantly improve Gwinnett County and will focus his "3-T" platform of Transportation, Transformation, and Transparency campaign on the following core issues:

Professional Career :

Throughout his military and civilian career, (Ret) Lieutenant Colonel Jasper Watkins has accomplished milestone achievements in the following key areas:

- Completed an American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists nuclear pharmacy residency and holds licensure in nuclear pharmacy;

- Played an integral role during the 911 attack on the Pentagon, by supporting the placement operations of the active-duty wounded/recovery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and by coordinating, the re-supply efforts for the Pentagon's pharmaceutical needs:

- Initiated the sustainment process from Ft. Benning, Georgia for pharmaceutical support and medical re-supply for operation New Orleans immediately after Hurricane Katrina;

- Implemented the Florida Department of Health/Corrections STD Specialty Care Program along with, an FDA approved repackaging facility within the Florida Department of Health; and 

- Implementation of approved USP Pharmacopoeia Cold-Chain Magagement principles for shipping Anthrax vaccine and was instrumental in the development of a broad array of medical, procurement and logistics policies as the Deputy Pharnacy Consultant to the Army Surgeon General.

In all of these accomplishments, (Ret) Lieutenant Colonel Jasper Watkins showed strong leadership skills in critical situations based on a proven track record of success in the military and civilian service. 

Personal :

(Ret) Lieutenant Colonel Jasper Watkins III is a member of Berean Christian Church Gwinnett.  He received his undergraduate degree from Florida A&M University's College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science, his Master's degree in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University, and completed a US Army Training with and Industry Fellowship Program from the Center on Patient Safety, American Society of Health-System Pharmacist, Association of Black Health-System Pharmacists, certificates in Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery, Physical Assessment in Patient Care Management, Program Management and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.  

He is a member of several boards and scientific associations and was awarded the highest peacetime military award known as the Legion of Merit Award.  He is also a member of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, Georgia and Florida Pharmaceutical Associations, Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Gwinnett County Medical Reserve Corps, Democratic Party, NAACP, American Legion Post 232, VFW Post 5255, LA Socie'te' Des Quadrantes Hommes Et Huit Che Vaux 1604, Pho Kappa Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., a graduate of the Gwinnett 101 Citizens Academy, former president of the Associaltion of Black Hospital Pharmacist, former board of directors and president of the North Forke Plantatation Homeowners Association, and has been afforded countless other military decorations and civilian honors throughout his career.  

(Ret) Lieutenant Colonel Jasper Watkins III resides in Grayson, Georgia with his loving wife Felicia of 37 years.  They have three adult children and two grandchildren.  In his spare time, Jasper can be found jogging, bike riding, hiking, reading, and absorbed in a variety of community activism.
